Austin, TX · Specialty & heavy

Austin piano movers. 10% strength, 90% strategy.

A grand does not leave a 1930s Hyde Park bungalow by force, it leaves by geometry. We measure the doorway, the porch step and the stair turn before anyone lifts, then move at first light so the instrument never sits in a hot Texas truck.

02 / HOW THE MOVE RUNS

Three things settled before anyone touches the instrument.

ATX / 01

The measurement, not the guess

Central Austin bungalows from the 1930s were built for furniture that no longer exists. We measure the doorway, the porch step, the screen-door swing and the turn at the top of the stair, then decide what comes off the piano. On a grand that is legs and lyre off with the case riding on its side on a padded skid board, worked out on paper days before move day.

ATX / 02

Dawn starts, May through September

A closed box truck in July Austin sun can pass 140 degrees inside, which loosens hide glue, softens key bushings and moves a soundboard. Summer jobs start at first light, ahead of the I-35 and MoPac crawl, loaded leg short and direct. No instrument waits in a parked truck while the crew eats. Same rule protects the candles, vinyl and electronics riding beside it.

ATX / 03

Placed, then left to settle

We set the piano on your floor plan, off the west-facing glass and out of the direct blast of an AC vent, reattach what came off and put the protection back underneath. We do not tune. Book your technician two to four weeks out, once the soundboard has settled into the humidity of the new room, so the tuning holds instead of drifting back inside a month.

03 / THE BILL

The line items other movers add once the truck is loaded.

Same crew, same truck, same job, and this is every fee we don’t add to it. You see the number before you book, and that number is the one you pay.

Local proof

Downtown Austin, and the number never moved.

“Anthony and Logan were such a pleasure to work with during my move to a new home in downtown Austin. They made the move enjoyable, and we even shared some laughs along the way. The final price was exactly what I expected. I couldn’t have asked for better movers!”

05 / STRAIGHT ANSWERS

What Austin piano owners ask first.

No. We move, reassemble and place the instrument, and we do not tune. Book your technician two to four weeks after move day. The soundboard and pinblock need to settle into the humidity of the new room first, and Austin swings from a dry February to an August that sits heavy for weeks. A tuning done the same afternoon usually has to be paid for twice.

Usually yes. The legs and lyre come off and the case travels on its side on a padded skid board, which is narrower than the piano standing up. In Hyde Park, Travis Heights and Clarksville the real pinch point is rarely the doorway: it is the porch step, the screen door swing or the turn at the bottom of the stair. We measure all of it before we quote, so nothing gets discovered on move day.

It is a flat, guaranteed quote, priced on access rather than on the clock. When the piano moves as part of a household move it sits inside the same number: small moves run $400–600, one to two bedrooms $600–1,000, larger homes $1,000–1,400. Stairs, disassembly, a long carry from a Lakeway street, fuel and mileage are all already in there. Deposit starts at $100 and is refundable with 48 hours’ notice.

Standard downtown, and we handle it. Tell us the property manager’s details and we prepare the COI naming the building as required, then book the loading dock and freight elevator window with them. Give us five to ten days where you can, because towers along Rainey Street, Second Street and West Sixth release very few weekday windows and August fills first. We can also work a Sunday window when the dock is quiet.

You do not have to. From May through September we start at first light, ahead of the I-35 and MoPac crawl, and we keep the loaded leg short and direct. The instrument never waits in a parked truck: a closed box truck in July sun can pass 140 degrees inside, which is what loosens hide glue and softens key bushings. If you are moving during the August lease turn or UT move-out weeks, book early, because those are the two weeks the whole city is on a truck.
