Downtown and the dock
Towers off Congress, Rainey Street and Seaholm do not let a truck park and walk in. Management assigns a dock window, often only 90 minutes, and wants a certificate of insurance before opening it. We reserve the dock, send the COI ahead and pad the freight elevator on arrival. ACL and SXSW weeks close streets near Cesar Chavez, so those dates get booked earlier.
The 1930s doorway problem
Hyde Park, Travis Heights and Clarksville bungalows were built for smaller furniture than anyone owns now. Interior doors are narrow, the hallway turn is tight, and a modern sectional does not negotiate. We measure the doorway, turn and porch step first, pull hinge pins and doors when the geometry demands it, and in 78704 we walk the third-floor exterior stair before anyone is holding one end of a dresser.
I-35, MoPac and the hill country
A Round Rock or Pflugerville house with a wide driveway is a different day than a Lakeway or Spicewood place at the bottom of a steep caliche drive, where the truck parks up top and we shuttle down. Either way the schedule is built around the corridor: crews stage on your side of the river, so nobody is sitting on I-35 at five o'clock with your bedroom aboard.
