Austin, TX · Last-minute

Same-day movers in Austin. Today means today, at today's quote.

The lease turned, the closing collapsed, or the movers you booked never showed at 8 a.m. We keep a crew on standby across the metro, 24/7 including holidays and overnight. The price is locked before a truck leaves, and it does not surge because you called late.

Austin answers on the Texas line, (512) 774-3300, or admin@flexdollytx.com. A person picks up, at 2 p.m. or at 2 a.m.

02 / THE DISPATCH

An insured crew, not whoever accepted the ping.

ATX / 01

The call at an odd hour

Tell us the two addresses, the floor, and whether there is an elevator. You get a guaranteed number in that call, not a range that moves once the truck is full. Booking at 11 p.m. on a holiday costs what booking at 11 a.m. on a Tuesday costs, because there is no surge multiplier to switch on.

ATX / 02

A route built around the corridor

A same-day move lives or dies on the drive. Central to Round Rock at 4 p.m. is a different job from the same run at 6 a.m., so the dispatcher picks the crossing and the start time, and we absorb it. Mueller to Cedar Park, Zilker to Georgetown, Buda to Pflugerville: the traffic is our problem, and it never shows up as a mileage line.

ATX / 03

Finished, not paused

The crew works until the job is done, including overnight. The only thing that stops us early is the building itself: most downtown towers close the freight elevator around 5 or 6 p.m. and will not release the dock again until morning, so we load the tight-window side first and finish at the house end after dark.

03 / STRAIGHT ANSWERS

The questions people ask at the last minute.

Usually yes. We hold standby crews across the metro and answer 24/7, including holidays and overnight, so a call at 6 a.m. or 11 p.m. reaches a person rather than a queue. Availability is truck by truck: a same-day job in Round Rock or Pflugerville is easier to fill at short notice than a downtown high-rise, because the tower needs a dock reservation and a certificate of insurance before anyone is allowed in the freight elevator. Call or text (512) 774-3300 and we will tell you within the call whether a truck is free, not two hours later.

No. There is no surge multiplier, no after-hours rate and no holiday rate. The apps that dispatch gig labour raise the price when demand spikes, which is exactly the hour you are calling in. We quote one flat, guaranteed number before the booking is confirmed, and that number is what you pay: no fuel surcharge, no stair fee for a third-floor walk-up in 78704, no long-carry fee when the truck cannot get closer than the alley, no mileage line for a Zilker to Georgetown run. Small moves usually land at $400 to $600, a one or two bedroom at $600 to $1,000, larger homes at $1,000 to $1,400.

Yes. Tell us the building and the property manager’s email when you call, and we prepare the COI for them before the crew arrives, naming the entity the management company asks to be named. We carry $1M liability and $100K cargo coverage under USDOT #4329208. What we cannot shortcut is the tower’s own calendar: most downtown and Rainey Street buildings want the loading dock and the freight elevator reserved in advance, and many close that elevator by 5 or 6 p.m. If your slot is tight, we load the building side first and finish at the house end after dark.

Better than you think, and better again if you are flexible on the hour. The last two weeks of August are the worst window in Austin: apartment lease turns and the UT move-in crush land in the same fortnight, and every crew in town is spoken for between 9 a.m. and noon. Our standby trucks exist for that week. Take the 6 a.m. slot if we offer it. It is cooler, the West Campus and Riverside streets are still empty, and a dawn start keeps the load out of the afternoon heat. The other weeks to plan around are ACL in October and SXSW in March, when downtown street closures decide the route more than the distance does.

It is a problem for some of them, and we plan around it rather than pretend otherwise. The box of a truck parked in the Texas sun runs far hotter than the air outside, and heat is what ruins candles, vinyl records, pillar wax, chocolate, some cosmetics, and anything with a lithium battery or a glued veneer. On an afternoon summer job we load those items last so they ride the shortest time, keep them off the sunny wall of the truck, and go straight through rather than staging a second stop. Electronics travel wrapped and upright, not stacked flat under weight. The crew carries its own water and takes shade breaks, which is factored into the flat price, so a hot day never becomes an extra line on your bill.

04 / THE BILL

The line items other movers add once the truck is loaded.

Same crew, same truck, same job, and this is every fee we don’t add to it. You see the number before you book, and that number is the one you pay.

On the record

A downtown Austin move, priced exactly as promised.

“Anthony and Logan were such a pleasure to work with during my move to a new home in downtown Austin. They made the move enjoyable, and we even shared some laughs along the way. The final price was exactly what I expected. I couldn’t have asked for better movers!”
