Austin, TX · Specialty & heavy

Austin hot tub movers. Measured first, lifted second.

A hairline crack in a five-figure spa is a total loss, so nothing about the lift is improvised. We take the gate throat, the driveway grade and the overhead before we quote, then decide sled or crane, from a 34-inch Hyde Park side yard to a Lakeway lot that falls away behind the house.

02 / THE METHOD

Sled or crane is decided before move day, never on it.

ATX / 01

The measure-first walk

Six numbers before we quote: the gate throat at its narrowest, the shell’s shortest dimension, the driveway grade, the overhead (eaves, live oak limbs, the low service drop over a central Austin alley lot), and where the truck can legally sit.

ATX / 02

Sled route or crane pick

A clear 38–40 inch throat rides on the spa sled, on its side, air-wedge lifted so the frame never takes a point load. When the only route out is over the house or the fence, common on Round Rock and Cedar Park lots that sit feet apart, a crane gets booked days ahead.

ATX / 03

The pad it lands on

A filled spa can pass 5,000 pounds on a footprint smaller than a car, so it lands on a level slab or a deck framed for it, not a twenty-year-old cedar deck nobody has looked under. Roadway goes down over lawn and limestone pavers first.

Two Texas seasons

The heat softens it. The freeze cracks it.

In a triple-digit Austin July, an acrylic shell riding face-up and uncovered is the fastest way to distort a spa you paid five figures for. Those weeks get a dawn start, the shell rides covered and shaded, and the run is timed so a loaded truck is not sitting still on the I-35 corridor at four in the afternoon.

Winter is the opposite failure. A drained tub is not a dry tub. From December through February every line, jet manifold and pump wet end gets blown out with a shop-vac before it leaves, because one cup of water left in a housing through an Austin hard freeze splits it, and nobody finds out until the spa is refilled in spring.

One boundary, stated plainly: we are the muscle and the trucks, not the electricians. A licensed pro handles the 240-volt disconnect and the reconnect, which keeps your warranty in good standing. We schedule around that appointment, and the heavy half is ours. Austin and Dallas: (512) 774-3300.

03 / STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Asked before every Austin spa move.

The size of the spa and the route out of the yard set the price, so a flat Pflugerville driveway costs less than a Lakeway hillside or a crane pick. You get one exact, guaranteed number for your layout before we book, with no stair fee, no long-carry fee and no fuel surcharge added afterward. The deposit starts at $100 and is refundable with 48 hours’ notice.

Not automatically. On its side on a spa sled, most tubs clear a throat of 38 to 40 inches measured post to post, not at the open gap. Central Austin bungalows in Hyde Park, Travis Heights and Clarksville often run 34 to 36 inches, sometimes with a gas meter in the pinch point, so we plan a fence panel or post pull, or price a crane pick instead. We take that measurement on the site walk, before you are committed to anything.

When there is no continuous ground route: the tub has to clear the house, a privacy fence with no removable panel, or a raised deck. That is common on newer zero-lot-line builds in Round Rock, Cedar Park and Pflugerville where the houses sit a few feet apart, and on hill country lots in Lakeway and Spicewood where the backyard drops below the driveway. A crane needs level ground for the outriggers, street clearance and a booking window, which is why it is scoped days ahead and never called on move morning.

Drain it completely about 24 hours ahead and run a shop-vac through the lines, because a full spa can pass 5,000 pounds and moving it wet twists the frame. Weather changes the schedule, not the method. On triple-digit summer weeks we start at dawn and the shell rides covered and shaded so the acrylic never bakes face-up on an open deck. From December through February we blow out the jet manifolds and pump wet ends, since a cup of water left in a housing through a hard freeze splits it and you only find out when you refill in spring.

No on the wiring. We are the muscle and the trucks, not the electricians, so a licensed pro handles the 240-volt disconnect, the GFCI sub-panel and the reconnect, which keeps your warranty in good standing. We schedule around that appointment and leave the equipment door reachable. On placement, a filled spa with bathers can pass 5,000 pounds on a small footprint, so it lands on a level slab or a deck that was framed for it. If your deck was not, tell us and we will set the tub on grade instead.
