Rowlett is built on two peninsulas reaching into Lake Ray Hubbard, and the subdivisions follow the shoreline instead of a grid. Cul-de-sacs curl around coves, streets stop at the water rather than continuing through, and an address that looks close on a map often is not. A lake house also holds a good deal more than indoor furniture.
So we settle the approach in advance rather than working it out from the cab, and stage the truck where the carry actually works instead of where the map suggests. The outdoor half of the house — patio sets, grills, kayaks, dock furniture — gets the same padding and shrink wrap as the dining table.
