Do I need to pay a deposit for my move with Flexdolly? What is the purpose of a deposit?

Yes, to secure your moving date and reserve a crew, we require a $50 deposit, which can be paid online through our payment form. The deposit is applied towards the total cost of your move. The purpose of the deposit is to guarantee that we will be available on your requested moving date and time, and to ensure that we have sufficient resources to complete your move as smoothly and efficiently as possible. By paying a deposit, you can be confident that your move is confirmed, and that we will be fully prepared and ready to serve you on your moving day.

What happens to my deposit if I need to cancel or reschedule my move?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your move, we ask that you give us at least 72 hours notice. If you do so, your $50 deposit will be fully refunded to you within 2-4 business days of giving us notice. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we want to make sure that you have the flexibility to adjust your moving plans accordingly.
If you choose to reschedule your move, your deposit will be applied towards the total cost of your move. This means that you won't lose your deposit, and you can still enjoy the benefits of having secured your preferred moving date and time with Flexdolly. Can I move my jewelry and important documents along with my other items?

We value the safety and security of your belongings during the moving process. While we strive to handle your items with the utmost care, we unfortunately CANNOT be held liable for any lost or damaged items that are not part of our inventory list. Instead, we recommend that you keep these items separately and securely, either in a locked safe or with you during the move. It's important to keep in mind that certain valuables, such as jewelry and important documents, may be irreplaceable, so taking extra precautions to protect them is always a good idea.

Does Flexdolly offer insurance for all of my items?

As required by the Department of Transportation, we provide free basic coverage of $0.60 cents per pound per article (item) for your belongings. However, if you would like additional coverage, you can opt for third-party insurance that allows you to choose the level of liability and deductible that suits your needs. We recommend reviewing your options carefully and choosing an insurance plan that adequately covers your valuable possessions during the move.

When can I expect to receive the Certificate of Insurance (COI) for my move?

The COI will be prepared and sent to you prior to the move, as part of the reservation process. Our moving consultants will guide you through the process and ensure it is straightforward. The COI will be sent as an email attachment to both you and your building management.

Do you conduct walkthroughs?

For local and small moves, we conduct virtual walkthroughs. However, for larger moves or those that require going out of town, we can conduct on-site walkthroughs. Additionally, with a detailed list and visual aids such as pictures or videos, we can provide you with an accurate estimate.

If I'm packing my belongings myself, how should I do it?

We have our Flexdolly Moving 101 Guide on our resources page, but here are a few tips: keep similar items together, pack items from the same furniture piece together, use small boxes for books and CDs, use medium boxes for fragile items and electronics, use large boxes for clothes and linens, and keep the weight of each box under 50 pounds. If you can lift the box yourself, it's good to go!

Do I need to empty my drawers and cabinet?

To ensure the safe and proper transport of your furniture, it's recommended that you empty your dressers and cabinets before your move. This will prevent any damage or items from shifting during transit. However, if you have upgraded your moving quote to include full packing service, you can leave this task to our experienced moving crew. They will take care of emptying your drawers and cabinets for you.

What are the items movers will not take?

Flexdolly movers will not transport live animals, liquids including alcohol, firearms, drugs, hazardous chemicals, and plants.
We want to ensure the safety of our customers and our moving crew, so we ask that you make arrangements to move these items yourself or find alternative solutions.

During the move:

When should I expect the movers to arrive?

The exact arrival time of the movers will be communicated to you by our customer service and dispatch department at least 48 hours before your scheduled move. On the day of your move, the Flexdolly crew will contact you via phone call or text message and keep you updated about their estimated time of arrival.

What is the latest time that the movers will work until?

As long as there are no restrictions from the building or location, our movers will work until the job is finished. We have experience working overnight and are willing to do so again if it is necessary for your move.

Can bad weather affect my move?

If there are severe weather conditions that block the roads, the delivery window may be affected. However, in all other cases, the weather should not affect your move. Our professional movers are well-trained, prepared, and equipped to handle moves during any inclement weather. So, once your crew arrives, their professionalism will give you peace of mind.

How long will my move or delivery take?

The duration of the move-out process will vary depending on the size of the move or delivery. For a more accurate estimate, our sales representatives will take into consideration the specific details of your move and provide you with an estimation accordingly.

How will the movers determine which items to take and which to leave behind during the move?

Our moving crew will have a copy of your contract and inventory list. Prior to packing and protecting your belongings, the team foreman will conduct a walkthrough with you and ask if there are any items you plan to leave behind. This will ensure that only the items you want to move will be loaded onto the truck.

Will the movers take breaks for lunch and rest during the move?

Our moving crew typically won't take a break for lunch during your move, but if your move is expected to last 6 hours or more, the foreman will communicate any necessary breaks with you. It's important to note that the cost of your move is not based on the duration of the move.

Is it necessary for me to be present during my move?

We highly recommend that you or a trusted representative who is at least 18 years old be present during the move to oversee the process. In the event that you cannot be present, it is important to select an adult representative whom you trust to supervise the move. Before the movers arrive at your location, it is necessary for you to sign a Power of Attorney designating your representative.

Can Flexdolly movers uninstall my AC unit and TV?

Flexdolly moving and delivery services do not include TV or AC mounting or unmounting, or any wall mounting services. For such services, we recommend hiring professionals who specialize in these tasks before your move day. If, despite our recommendation, you agree with the movers to perform the TV or AC unit unmounting services, please note that Flexdolly Moving and Delivery will not be held liable for any damages or problems that may arise during or after the service.

Is it allowed for me to ride in the moving truck with the movers?

Unfortunately, for safety and insurance purposes, we cannot allow customers to ride in the moving truck with the movers.

After the move:

Will Flexdolly compensate for any damages occurred during my move?

If you choose to buy Full Value Protection, Flexdolly Moving & Delivery will bear full responsibility and will replace or repair any damaged or missing items. Alternatively, you can choose to work with a third-party company for extra protection. However, if you decide not to buy Full Value Protection and go for our Free Basic Coverage, we will only be liable for $0.60 cents per pound per article for your belongings, as mandated by the Department of Transportation.
